DESCRIPTION:For Ministry Wives \nWe invite you to join us for a Bible Study this Fall! \nWe are trying something new and offering two opportunities on Tuesday mornings. Both studies are every other week from 9:45 am to 11:30 am\, at the OWM office. Jennifer and Tracy are hosting the Gentle and Lowly study. Arlene and Patty are hosting the Abiding in Christ study. We have done these studies ourselves and have found them to be meaningful and impactful in our lives. \n\n1.Gentle and Lowly \nThis book\, Gentle and Lowly\, written by Dane Ortlund about Jesus is so beautifully written and has captured our hearts. We are excited to offer a study based on it. SUMMARY:Date with God - September 25\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:A Date with God\nTheme: J❤️Y\nSeptember 25\, 2024 – 8:00 am – 3:00 pm \n“You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence\, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”\nPsalm 16:11\n\nDo you have a discipline of purposely setting aside time for solitude and silence with the Lord? To turn off the noise and activities and be alone and still? To listen\, hear\, be refreshed and be renewed? Jesus knew the importance of this and at one point amid a crazy busy period\, he said to his disciples\, “Come away with me. Let us go alone to a quiet place and rest a while…” Mark 6:31 \nDo you long for such rest? Spending an extended time abiding in our Lord’s presence enables us to hear God’s still\, quiet voice. When we are intentional about setting this time aside\, we gain wisdom and experience refreshment\, grace and a release from the burdens that we are carrying. We emerge with a renewed sense of peace and joy that comes from experiencing a sense of togetherness with God. \nThere is never a “convenient” time to be with the Lord. It takes discipline and courage to carve this time out. Jesus was particularly attuned to this need and led His disciples into rhythms of solitude\, community and ministry. Even though many people must be encouraged repeatedly to do this (you know who you are!)\, we can honestly share that we have never spoken to anyone who set this time aside and reported it was a waste of time. In fact\, it is the contrary. \n“…for it is in the silence of the heart that God speaks. God is the friend of silence – we need to listen to God because it’s not what we say but what He says to us and through us that matters….” Mother Teresa \nHere is a testimonial from a participant who attended a previous “Date With God.” \n“I often have such good intentions to set aside time to be with God\, but somehow something interferes with my well-intentioned plans. The experience of a ”Date with God”\, accompanied by others\, and led in such a way as to provide a complementary environment of personal reflection and sharing with others\, has helped me realize those good intentions! “. \nAs we enter this autumn season\, will you consider blocking Wednesday\, September 25th from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm in your calendar for a “lightly facilitated” virtual Solo Silent Retreat? \nIf God has been whispering to you to spend time with Him\, click here to register. \nPlease note that this is a full-day event and is limited to 24 participants.
