En avril 2024\, lors de la conférence Capitalyze\, Steve et Patti Buss\, de la ville d’Eugene en Oregon\, ont expliqué comment les églises d’Eugene se sont unies pour prier stratégiquement de manière à avoir une influence positive sur leur ville. Cette stratégie est appelée « Une Église – Un Jour ». \nLes églises réservent une journée du mois pour prier pour leurs membres et leur ville. It’s a strategy called “One Church\, One Day” (OCOD). \nChurches take one day per month to pray for their congregation and the city. DESCRIPTION:A Date with God\nTheme: J❤️Y\nSeptember 25\, 2024 – 8:00 am – 3:00 pm \n“You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence\, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”\nPsalm 16:11\n\nDo you have a discipline of purposely setting aside time for solitude and silence with the Lord? To turn off the noise and activities and be alone and still? To listen\, hear\, be refreshed and be renewed? Jesus knew the importance of this and at one point amid a crazy busy period\, he said to his disciples\, “Come away with me. Let us go alone to a quiet place and rest a while…” Mark 6:31 \nDo you long for such rest? Spending an extended time abiding in our Lord’s presence enables us to hear God’s still\, quiet voice. When we are intentional about setting this time aside\, we gain wisdom and experience refreshment\, grace and a release from the burdens that we are carrying. We emerge with a renewed sense of peace and joy that comes from experiencing a sense of togetherness with God. \nThere is never a “convenient” time to be with the Lord. It takes discipline and courage to carve this time out. Jesus was particularly attuned to this need and led His disciples into rhythms of solitude\, community and ministry. Even though many people must be encouraged repeatedly to do this (you know who you are!)\, we can honestly share that we have never spoken to anyone who set this time aside and reported it was a waste of time. In fact\, it is the contrary. \n“…for it is in the silence of the heart that God speaks. God is the friend of silence – we need to listen to God because it’s not what we say but what He says to us and through us that matters….” Mother Teresa \nHere is a testimonial from a participant who attended a previous “Date With God.” \n“I often have such good intentions to set aside time to be with God\, but somehow something interferes with my well-intentioned plans. DESCRIPTION:“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear. The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid”\nPsalm 27:1 ESV\n\nAs we begin a new year\, it seems like a perfect time to take a day to lock eyes with God and to hear His voice. \n“…for it is in the silence of the heart that God speaks. God is the friend of silence – we need to listen to God because it’s not what we say but what He says to us and through us that matters….” Mother Teresa \nSpending an extended time abiding in our Lord’s presence enables us to hear the still\, quiet voice of God. When we are intentional about setting this time aside\, we gain wisdom and experience refreshment\, grace\, and release from burdens that we are carrying. And we emerge with a renewed sense of peace and joy that comes from experiencing a sense of togetherness with God. \nThere is never a “convenient” time to be with the Lord. It takes discipline and courage to carve this time out. Block February 29th in your calendar and register now for this virtual Silent Retreat of listening time of prayer with the Lord\, which will be facilitated by Doug Sprunt of One Way Ministries.
